Group HistoryThe NEC Users Group was started in 1984 to bring together large users of the NEAX 2400 system to share ideas, experiences and identify problems to NEC. The first meeting was held in October of 1984 in Tenafly, New Jersey, hosted by CPC International. During the early years, the Group's membership grew and NEC's involvement increased.Formal by-laws and a Board of Directors was established in May of 1987 at the Group's meeting at Innsbrook Resort in Tarpon Springs, Florida. A Nebraska corporation was also established in the name of The NEAX 2400 IMS Users Group. At the Annual Conference in Seattle, Washington in April, 1988, the Group established its Business Office in Columbia, South Carolina. Years continued to pass with meetings held across the country in locations such as New Orleans, Atlanta, San Diego, Dallas, Nashville, Phoenix, Tampa, Panama City Beach, Las Vegas and Orlando. In 1993 the Group changed its name to The NEAX Users Group. It also moved its corporation to South Carolina and extended its membership to include users of all NEAX systems. In 2005 the Group changed its name to the NEC Users Group to extend its membership to include users of all NEC systems. |
The NEC Users Group's central headquarters is located in Columbia, South Carolina managed by RCR Associates, an association management firm. Group's normal business operations are transacted through this office including support to the board of directors / committees, annual conference coordination, newsletter production and distribution, membership services, accounting services, etc. All inquiries or communications with its officers, directors or committee members should be directed to the Business Office. |
